So this brilliant event is coming up in a few weeks time. I've been asked by the lovely men who play polo in Cambridge to design them a poster to advertise this date. In addition to this I'm working on a logo and further designs that will be made into bags and t-shirts to act as prizes for the winners. I advise anyone to tune into the bike polo culture and watch out for a tournament near you, its very engrossing and great fun to watch, never know you might pick it up yourself.

Why stick to paper.
I enjoy applying my drawing onto all sorts of different materials, here I made an apron that I decorated with illustrations of various English trees using fabric pens. I'm aiming to come up with a design that I can then get properly printed onto aprons, to ensure the image lasts after washing and to make it possible to apply an image with delicate lines onto the fabric. At the moment the lines are a little too chunky than I'd like and texture is hard to get across with the pens I am using. I guess you could call it work in progress.
Signage, fun with typography.
Firstly..... a sign I painted for the location of a friends bike hire business in Cambridge. If you are visiting lovely Cambridge I would recommend exploring on a bicycle, do check out his website: http://www.bikehireonline.com/
Here are two notice boards I was commissioned to paint for the Cambridge Arts Picturehouse.

A cheeky 'Get Well' for a friend
Get well D.S! Hope that pelvis heals up quick. I should add that this gentleman is Paul Weller from 'the Jam'.
(I regret adding the red laser spot on his forehead, it would look better without, where is the undo button?!)

Hammertime
Tried a Hammer? Not the tool but the surprisingly delicious/deadly alcoholic cocktail.
Try this at home, it is very easy:
1/2 larger (any kind)
1/4 gin
1/4 tonic water
A word of warning, if you are planning on making this your drink of choice at a party make sure you have NOTHING planned for the next day.
I'm not kidding. We introduced this silly drink to some people, since have become close friends, we met in Oslo. ('Brits Abroad!!' comes to mind, but a little more sophisticated version I like to think). One of these open minded lovely people is Petter, it was Petters' birthday hence the 'Hammers' themed card. Oh by the way Norwegians love to drink!
I don't know quite what happened
So its been AGES since I posted anything up here. I don't really know why this is but I do apologise, this is about to change. I was busy getting a new job and a bunch of other life preoccupations. It's been a pretty slow period since I last posted, I've been working on various larger projects which you'll be seeing evidence of soon. It's becoming evident that I need to work on my organisational skills as I'm having an interesting time juggling four different projects at one time.
In the mean time here are a few card designs/quick drawings I have made for those lovely people I know, generally for birthdays, also for Easter and weddings.

Spooky the Sphynx kitty
Meet Spooky's double. A friend of mine has one of those strange hairless cats, like Mr. Bigglesworth from Austin Powers. I decided that every avid cat fan should have a cushion kicking around to cuddle when their cat don't feel like cuddling. I hope I managed to capture her cute head, despite her wrinkles she's actually very cute.

Puppy Wall Hanging!
Here is an on-going project I am working on. My mum has a family of Bulgarian Sheepdogs, known as Karakachans, they are beautiful creatures that are very much undiscovered and unknown in England. I'm documenting their family tree through an illustrated wall hanging, as you can see still in the initial stages of making. So far the pair, Ozi and Jazzi have had two litters, the first (the three in a row) are now a year old, they all have their own homes with loving owners. However it's a little crowded at home as four more furry pups have been born quite recently, they are VERY cute!

A painting I was working on.
My first commissioned portrait for a friend of my sisters. I have just realised, when deciding which photo to post, that I have forgotten to take a final photo of the completed piece. Not much different to this example but with a few alterations. I'll see if she could send me one over. Thanks for taking a look. x
